With an educational background ​​in Biochemistry, and 9 years field experience in developing products for one of the biggest Telecommunications companies in Canada​ ​, Marissa took the plunge and launched her own consulting firm in 2011. The team has grown to 45 people and operates in Canada, US, and Europe, helping funded Start-Ups scale rapidly.

Marissa is also an active fashion, beauty and travel blogger at Chic Darling. Last year she took that passion to the next step, and created a community to help bloggers grow their blogs, learn technical skills, and network with industry experts in a collaborative environment. She founded, and is currently the Managing Director of, Spark Sessions- a two-day Conference dedicated to Fashion and Beauty Bloggers in Canada.
