Hi my name is Joan and I am a new-ish blogger and a long time DIY-er. I have always been handy and my not so handy hubs calls me his "handy-wife". My passion is updating vintage furniture with paint and upholstery. I am addicted to on-line auctions and free stuff. I love MCM (mid-century modern). I can defend myself against wood lovers / paint haters... at least it is not in the trash! I am an avid photographer and am very proficient in Photoshop. I am most definitely a live-long learner or maybe just OCD :-) When I am interested in something, I research it to death so I know as much as possible. I did a graduate degree when I was 50. I have so many advenues I love to take: reading, DIYing, sewing, cooking, photography and Photoshop, golfing, gardening, tennis and travel to name a few.

I began blogging in earnest in September 2013 and now, I am keen to grow my blog and in particular to make connections. Blogging can be a lonely task and I am a highly social person so I need to take things up a notch.

I am also heavily involved with a registered charity that supports a Toronto Arts-Based school. So, in addition to my own blog and website, I maintain one for the charity and I am interesting in making my work more effective. I have a fear I will be THE "oldie" at the conference but let it be known, inside I am still a teenager!
